Silver in Denmark - August 2008  

Simon Aldhouse took Silver at the Lapua European Cup in Arhus, Denmark. After a second string of 98 Simon recovered to finished with 400 to take the silver on count back.

GB300m Club Championship - October 2005

The first club championships took place in strange and unpredictable conditions at Bisley, long faces of people as they left the firing points, changed to bemused smiles as they realised that it had been the same for everyone.

Simon Aldhouse took the top spot into the final from Peter Mann and Graham Hawarth just two points behind. The top three positions remained the same with Peter edging out Graham by 0.2 for the silver. [full results click here]

Europa Cup Final - September 2005

Pascal Bessy retained his men's prone title with the GB men finishing in joint 10th place. Mary Pearse also finished in 10th in the ladies event. [results click here]

Bronze for Simon - Europa Cup Czech Republic - May 2005

Simon Aldhouse won his second medal on the Europa Cup Circuit with a 3rd place in Pilzen, Simon finished with 597 only to loose the Gold on count back.

The open range and windy conditions in the Czech Republic had a number of the shooters struggling in the prone eliminators, for full details see the result page.

This was the first Europa Cup to be held in Pilzen and after a well organised and well attended competition [approx. 60 competitors], hopes are that it will become a regular fixture on the Europa Cup Circuit.

Bisley- May 2005

The Bisley 300m prone range record was broken by Simon Aldhouse with a score of 598, the record which has stood for 22 years was originally shot at the Nordics just after the "shed" was built.

Europa Cup Denmark- August 2004

The final Europa Cup of 2004 finished in Denmark with a remarkable set of results in the men's prone event. Two 600's were shot in the second eliminator and the final saw two 599's and five 598's. The French team took the the Gold with a score of 1797 ex 1800 eclipsing the world record which stands at 1794.

Gold for Great Britain - May 2004

Simon Aldhouse became the first male Great Britain Competitor to win a Gold Medal at an Europa Cup  event. Simon shot a pair of 598's during the five day competition held at the Tolmezzo Shooting Ranges in Italy.

New Range - April 2004

The first competition took place on the newly updated range at Bisley. The British Free Rifle Club [BFRC] Spring 300m meeting became the first fully electronic target match to take place on the century range at Bisley.  It took place without any technical hitches resulting in a win for Simon Aldhouse, see result page for full details

The team for the first Europa Cup at Tolmezzo in Italy will be Simon Aldhouse, Graham Hawarth and Austin Reeve.

Success for the NRA Team in France - March 2004

The first weekend away for this year dawned clear and bright for the NRA 300 meter team visiting Clermont in France, resulting in a clutch of trophies for the team as well as individuals, giving an excellent start to the new season for its GB shooters.

This is normally the very first time we get to shoot 300m in the New Year.  However last weekend some of us were lucky enough to be around during the commissioning of the new electronic targets at Bisley, and we had at least had the opportunity to clear the cobwebs out of the barrels!

New 300m Club - March 2004

With Agreement with the NRA a club has been formed to manage the new 300m facility at Bisley, the club is called "The GB300m Rifle Club" will run all shooting on the range. Anyone wishing to become a member of the club or if you just want to "have a go" at 300m should contact the club on info@gb300m.com. More details about the club will appear on this site soon.

Electronic Targets Up and Running - 21st March 2004

The First shot have been fired on the upgraded 300m range at Bisley. Ian Shirra-Gibb had the honour of putting the first few round down the range on the first training day of the year. There is still a lot of work to do but shooting from now on will be on electronic targets.

Bisley 300m Range Upgrade  - December 2003

Construction of the new range facilities at Bisley is moving on with the placement of an order for eight Kongsberg electronic targets. The upgrade which is being undertaken by the GB300m club has been financed by a donation from the Dick Dank Memorial Fund and a loan obtained by the club.  With the targets expected to be operational by March 2004 the club is to run a number of competitions over the year to raise funds to pay back the loan, more details to follow.

Graham Hawarth is the only qualifier for this years Europa Cup Final to be held at Liestel, Switzerland, Simon Aldhouse just missed the cut being in 21st place with the top 20 on the circuit receiving invites.

Europa Cup Circuit Schedule Revised - April 2003

The Finnish grand prix has been cancelled, but a rescheduled match will now be held in Germany at Munich’s Hochbruch ranges in early July where the facilities have been recently updated to 42 lanes of electronic targets.  This will be the first major 300m international match held there since the 1972 Olympics.

New Range Record -March 2003

Graham Hawarth got the 300m season of to a flying start by shooting his way into the Clermont Range record books. Graham won both Individual matches between a NRA-BFRC and the French Regional Club Clermont Creil, his first match score of 598 with x43 was a new range record.

Work Starts on the 300m Range - February 2003

Work has started on upgrading the 300m range facilities at Bisley.  The first phase of the project, which is being undertaken by a number of 300m enthusiasts, is to make the firing point secure and dig a cable trench for later installation of electronic targets. Europa Cup Final - Liestal, Switzerland - September 2002

Great Britain's Simon Aldhouse and Graham Hawarth found the competition at the final extremely high, with scores in the prone match of 594 putting them in 12th place, they were in good company on 594 with the 2002 300m Prone World Champion Norbert Sturny.

Norbert unhappy with this result went on to win the three positional Standard rifle 3x20 competition two days later with a new European record of 590, which in better than the existing world record (589), in this event the top five competitors all shot national records. 

At the medal ceremony Norbert announced his retirement from international shooting, this is to concentrate his efforts on work and the Swiss junior squad, for which he is coach.

NRA-BFRC vs. Clermont - Bisley- September 2002

NRA-BFRC teams won the two match competition held at Bisley by the smallest of margins, five points in the first match and just one in the second. Graham Hawarth took the Individual Aggregate from the 16 year old Marion Goberville, from Clermont, who is only in her second season of 300m shooting and looking like a very good prospect for the future.

The 2002 World Championship team took the top three places at the latest 300m competition held at Bisley, Andy Campbell was back on form with a new barrel but lost 2nd place due to an unfortunate cross shot

Europa Cup Final Qualification- September 2002

The GB 300m squad will have three representatives at the Europa Cup Final  to be held at Liestel, Switzerland from September 18th to 20th.  They are Simon Aldhouse and Graham Hawarth in the men's prone and Mary Pugsley in the ladies prone.  Qualification is achieved by being in the top twenty rankings on the Europa Cup circuit
